The Blind Boy on a Unicorn was prompted by a visit of Princess Anne to Torbay Hospital and to the Riding Centre for the Disabled at Diptford, in October 1985. He admired the Princess for the work she was doing for disabled children and for Save The Children Fund, and the fact that she was visiting the hospital where he had just received so much care and attention, gave him particular pleasure. |

"For a disabled person to be able to do something that a normal person does, must be like the magic of a blind boy riding on a unicorn." he wrote "In his hand, the boy is holding a small cross to signify that with faith in Jesus Christ anything is possible - if you really want it to happen" |

Through the sculpture he hoped to express his thanks to the hospital staff for his 'recovery' (which he had at that-time). The Blind Boy on a Unicorn represented the Second visit of the day, Riding Centre for the Disabled. |
